If the people who choose what gets turned into a movie pick books as one of their film ideas, then why the fuck do they change EVERYTHING!?!?! It’s always the same with these things! The first book turned movie I’ve seen (and don’t judge me, I lived in the Philippines and we weren’t able to spend such money and things) was Harry Potter. It was pretty awesome. But when I read the books, there were sooooooo many differences between them. (Don’t ask me specifics, I don’t remember) The books were actually more magical than the films! The next that I can specifically remember is Twilight. I had heard about it being turned into film from somewhere, HIPSTER STYLE MIND YOU. As in I saw the trailer before soo many people even knew about it. So I was like hmmm, the trailer for the movie seems interesting enough, I guess I’ll check out the book! And so, I read it AND FELL IN LOVE =) I loved the books they were great, you could feel the chemistry the romance and I loved the heart-fluttering scenes of Bella and Edward. But did they have that in the movie? NOPE! JEEZ LOUISE! I was so excited, I was fangirling man. Everything twilight cast related I’d watch on YouTube, I even bought the soundtrack! Sad thing was the movie was so damn boring and awkward. I couldn’t help but laugh at Edward’s eyes. Every time it was a “Bella, you’re in danger” scene or a “I’m a monster” scene he looked like he was gonna cry -___- All the good stuff weren’t even in the movie!! another example, would probably be Inkheart? But I don’t know, I can’t remember the book. Oh yeah, they changed things around a little bit. OH ANOTHER ONE!!!! Hana frickin Kimi (originally Hana Kimi; the “frickin” in the middle is just to demonstrate my frustration) Sano and Ashiya did so much more cutesy scenes in the books than in the drama! :”( And they shouldn’t blame it on the time thingys either because it was a series! They practically had the way each episode should have come out in their hands. JUST LOOK AT THE MANGAS! but did they follow it, barely! And the worst part for me in all this Hana Kimi-ness is the fact that Sano and Ashiya were REALLY CUTE in the manga! They had all sorts of romantic scenes and cute scenes! The drama added unnecessary things. I would’ve been happy if they’d just follow the manga. OMG AND MY SISTER’S KEEPER. YO, that movie PISSED ME THE FUCK OFF. I read the book while I was onl the plane from Florida/Texas to California and when I was finally finished with the book when I was home I was like sobbing because the ending was so ironic and beautiful and shit. But the movie completely changed the ending!!! I was so disappointed at the end of the move! okay this is my last example. Gokusen xD so I still haven’t really read it but I was reading at the character info on wikipedia and it states that Sawada stayed in Japan with Yankumi protecting her because he loved her from the very beginning! :”) but was that put in the fucking drama?!?!?!? IT SURE AS FUCKIN’ HELL WAS NOT! I was so disappointed at having read that because it wasn’t in the effin’ drama!!
I don’t understand why books are chosen to become films if the substance is not contained in the film. Doing this to books just makes me sad. A precious message from the book could not have been conveyed because of the shit that they take out/put in differently in the films. I bet Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac wasn’t as bad a book as it was a film too. So I’ll read it and be the judge (an inexperienced judge at that, but this all purely my opinion. Please don’t spite me) I wish someday that someone will choose a really good book to turn into a movie and not change anything about it. It’s kind of stupid to choose a book just because it reached High hopes and is now famous so that’s why they want to get the name, because they know people would see it. In that way, they sort of butcher the stories and the value of the books to the people who loved them. Just putting cute/hot actors/actresses in the film is not enough. Substance is one of the most important things a film should have….
In my opinion…
and like most love stories, there are coincidences, lost loves and slight head injuries.
